They’ve merged Codex w/ Chat GPT. I’d imagine now as people download and install & attempt to sign in will quickly realize OpenAIs obsession with dead phone #s, hopefully that influx of more upset users will have the @OpenAI_Support team address this madness. Perhaps they can fix it and write a blog post on how even a trillion dollar company can struggle with mundane features.. then wrap the blog post up with a positive spin on how ChatGPT 5.6 SOL was able to overcome this 5+ year old limitation.

This account merge will undoubtedly be a chaotic and dark event, filled with curse. Not everyone needs to use codex; we just want to use ChatGPT, and now even ChatGPT requires phone number verification, and what’s even more foolish is that OpenAI doesn’t support changing the phone number!!
