Hey!
I created an account through the Platform yesterday, but when I tried logging in today I got an account_deactivated error. I barely had the chance to use it, so I’m pretty confused about what happened, I have received nothing from OpenAI regarding the lock.
Has anyone else experienced this before or knows what could have caused it? I’ve already reached out to them, but I was curious if anyone here has run into the same issue and may know what to do.
Hey Shorefall, welcome to the forum!
Thanks for reaching out. Account restriction and deactivation appeals require account-specific information and cannot be reviewed safely on the public Community Forum.
Please use the appeal link in the account warning or deactivation email you received. If you cannot access that email, submit an appeal at https://openai.com/form/appeal/. If you did not receive an email and have lost access to your account, contact support@openai.com from the email address associated with your OpenAI account.
Please do not post account, identity, enforcement, payment, or other personal information here.

Hi, I really appreciate the assistance.
Unfortunately, I did not receive an email, and another account created using the same domain was also deleted or locked immediately.
I have already submitted an appeal, but I will make sure to contact Support as well.
Thanks again for your help!
I’m unfortunately in a very similar situation.
My ChatGPT Pro account was permanently deactivated after only about eight days of use. The subscription was paid for by my organization for work-related purposes, so the deactivation came as a complete surprise.
I submitted an appeal, but it was denied without explaining what specific activity or policy violation led to the deactivation. I then contacted Support again and requested clarification or a review by a human specialist. Unfortunately, I still haven’t received any information about what actually caused the enforcement action.
The only unusual activity I can remember before the deactivation was using a cloud-based browser to visit Speedtest.net out of curiosity and run an internet speed test. During the test, the cloud browser suddenly lost network connectivity, and sometime afterward my ChatGPT account was deactivated. I don’t know whether these events are related or if it was simply a coincidence, but it’s the only unusual event I can recall.
What has been most difficult is not knowing what happened. Without understanding the reason, it’s impossible to learn from it or avoid similar issues in the future.
If any OpenAI staff members happen to see this post, I would sincerely appreciate it if you could take another look at my case. My User ID is: user-ies5P0DgU9LZlao19rCfDYgX. Even if you cannot share detailed internal information, I would be very grateful for any clarification or confirmation that my case can be reviewed again.
Reading your post made me realize I’m not alone. I hope everyone affected by unexplained deactivations can eventually receive a clearer explanation.
