I really appreciate the intention behind these resets, but I think the current system is actually frustrating some professional users instead of helping them.

The problem is not whether you reset our quota. The problem is when we can use that additional capacity.

I’m a developer. My Codex workload is not the same every day. Today I might have nothing important that requires heavy Codex usage, while three days from now I might have a critical project where I genuinely need that capacity.

If my weekly quota reset yesterday and I still have 80% available, resetting me to 100% today doesn’t really give me another quota. It effectively gives me only 20%.

What am I supposed to do? Run Codex all day today on projects I don’t need just because I know another reset is coming? That makes no sense.

The previous banked reset system was much better.

Give me the reset, put it in my bank, and let me activate it when I actually need it. Then your gift really represents an additional 100% of useful capacity instead of potentially 10%, 20%, or 30%.

This is especially important for professional users who use Codex regularly but responsibly. We don’t want to burn tokens just because a reset is coming. We want to use our quota when our work actually requires it.

I’ve been paying around CHF 83/month because Codex is a professional tool for me, but this repeated automatic-reset behavior has frustrated me enough that I’ve cancelled my subscription and I’m considering moving my development workflow to Anthropic.

And that’s unfortunate, because I actually like Codex.

Please consider bringing back banked resets and making exceptional resets claimable rather than automatically overwriting remaining usage.

A reset is valuable when I can use it when I need it, not when someone else decides I need it.
