I’m experiencing what appears to be a serious issue with Codex credit usage on my ChatGPT Pro account.
My credits are decreasing even when I am not using Codex and not using Work at all.
For example, today I started the day with approximately 90% of my Codex usage/credits remaining.
During the entire day, I only made one very simple request to Luna Medium. Other than that, I did not use Codex or Work.
I used regular ChatGPT a little during the day, but nothing that should, as far as I understand, consume my Codex allowance.
Despite this, my available Codex usage dropped by approximately 9 percentage points during the day, from around 90% to around 81%, without me actively using Codex.
This is not the first time I have noticed credits decreasing while I am not actively using Codex.
This is particularly concerning because I am paying $200/month for the ChatGPT Pro plan, and losing around 10% of the available usage without actually using Codex represents a significant portion of the plan.
Could OpenAI please clarify:
-
Can normal ChatGPT conversations consume the same usage allowance displayed for Codex?
-
Can Work, background processes, agents, previous sessions, or any other process continue consuming Codex credits when I am not actively using them?
-
Is there a way to see an exact usage log showing which request/process consumed each portion of the credits, including timestamp, model, and amount consumed?
-
Could this be a metering/accounting bug?
I would appreciate it if someone from OpenAI could investigate the account-level usage because the decrease happens even during periods where Codex is completely unused.
