I can sign in to ChatGPT Web normally using Google SSO.
My account was created using Google and has never had a phone number associated with it.
However, when I sign in to the ChatGPT Desktop / Codex client, after successfully completing Google
authentication, I am redirected to a “Phone number required” page.
The verification page does not support the China (+86) country code, so I cannot complete the
authentication flow.
This appears to be a Codex/Desktop OAuth phone-verification issue rather than a normal request to add
or change a phone number.
ChatGPT Web continues to work normally with the same account.
Please review my account and reset/remove the unexpected phone-verification requirement from the
Codex/Desktop authentication flow.

Thanks for sharing the details @panwang.0611

Since you’re able to sign in on ChatGPT Web but are encountering the phone verification prompt specifically with the Desktop/Codex client, this will need a closer look at your account and authentication flow.

Please submit a support ticket through the OpenAI Help Center so our Support team can review this further.
