Feature suggestion: Localized or user-selectable nicknames for ChatGPT

I would like to suggest “Çatapat” as a Turkish nickname for ChatGPT.

In Turkish, “ChatGPT” does not flow very naturally in everyday speech. During regular conversations, I started calling the assistant “Çatapat.” It is playful, easy to pronounce in Turkish, memorable, and still phonetically reminiscent of “ChatGPT.”

What started as a joke actually made the interaction feel much more natural. Instead of addressing a product or an application, it feels like addressing the same assistant I interact with every day.

This led me to a broader product idea:

ChatGPT could allow users to choose a personal or localized nickname for their assistant.

The official product would, of course, remain ChatGPT. The nickname would simply be the name the assistant recognizes and uses during conversation, Voice Mode, notifications, cross-device interactions, and potentially future assistant experiences.

For example:

• Official product name: ChatGPT
• Language: Turkish
• Assistant nickname: Çatapat

Other languages and cultures could naturally develop their own names, or users could simply choose one themselves.

This could become particularly useful as ChatGPT evolves from something users open on a screen into a persistent assistant available across phones, computers, watches, earbuds, cars, TVs, and other devices.

If the same assistant follows the user across all those devices, having a familiar personal name becomes much more meaningful.

The idea is not to rename ChatGPT globally. It is to let the relationship between the user and the assistant have a name of its own.
