I recently connected my Google Drive to ChatGPT Library expecting it to work as a connected source that I could browse when needed.
However, after connecting it, a large number of my Google Drive files appeared individually in my main Library. I already had my ChatGPT Library organized into folders, so having hundreds of Drive files mixed into the main Library made it very cluttered and difficult to manage.
I disconnected Google Drive, but some Library entries remain and now need to be cleaned up manually.
I would like to suggest three improvements:
1. Keep Google Drive in a separate area inside Library
When Google Drive is connected, it should appear as one dedicated Google Drive folder/source. Opening it should show the same folder structure as the user’s actual Google Drive.
For example:
Library
- My existing ChatGPT folders
- Google Drive
- My Drive
- Folder A
- Folder B
- Folder C
- My Drive
This would allow users to browse and use their Google Drive files without mixing them into the main ChatGPT Library.
2. Add “Remove all Google Drive items” when disconnecting
If a user disconnects Google Drive, there should be an option to remove all Google Drive-related Library entries at once.
For users with hundreds or thousands of Drive files, manually identifying and deleting them is not practical.
3. Add Library History / Restore
It would be very useful to have a Library history or restore-point feature.
For example:
Restore Library to its state before Google Drive was connected.
This could also help if users accidentally move, delete, import, or reorganize a large number of files.
The Google Drive integration itself is useful. The main issue is that connecting a large Drive can disrupt an already organized Library. Keeping connected sources separate and providing an easy rollback/cleanup option would make the feature much safer and easier to use.
