This is not a support request. It is product feedback based on a real subscription decision. I’d be grateful if it could be seen by the Product team responsible for subscriptions and billing.

I’m a UK-based user who has spent considerable time evaluating leading AI platforms for long-term professional and personal use. My work includes software development, local AI deployment, multi-agent workflows, investment research, and everyday productivity. Since I expect AI to become a core part of my workflow for many years to come, I paid close attention not only to product capabilities, but also to the overall subscription and billing experience.

After comparing ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro extensively, I ultimately chose the Claude Pro annual personal subscription.

1. Annual pricing

Both services offer annual subscriptions, but Claude Pro is slightly less expensive at around £180 per year, which made it a little more attractive.

2. Separate billing information

During checkout, Claude allows personal account details and billing information to be entered separately. This means I can subscribe personally while having the invoice issued under my company name, which is very convenient for business accounting.

3. UK VAT reverse charge

My company is VAT-registered in the UK. After entering the VAT number, Claude applied the reverse charge, so VAT was not added. The total annual cost became £150, which made a meaningful difference.

If all three of these factors were the same (pricing, billing flexibility, and VAT handling), I would choose ChatGPT without hesitation.

In my experience, ChatGPT offers the better overall product experience. I prefer its features, workflow, and usage experience.

This is my sincere feedback: I believe ChatGPT is the stronger product overall, and it should not lose potential subscribers due to relatively small differences in subscription experience.

You didn’t lose me because of the product—you lost me because of the subscription experience.

I believe there are many UK freelancers, consultants, and small business owners who may reach the same conclusion for the same reasons. For users like us, subscription administration is part of the product experience, not just a finance detail.

Improving this area could help retain users who already prefer ChatGPT as a product.

One final thought:

I genuinely hope ChatGPT continues to succeed. I already believe it is the stronger product. I would prefer to choose it long-term based on overall experience, not subscription administration or tax handling.

I hope that one day I’ll be able to switch back—not because the product improves, but because the subscription experience becomes just as good.
